This page explains how to request deletion of your Toolbox account and associated data, what data is deleted, and what is retained for legal, accounting, and security purposes. Toolbox is a product of Toolbox Repair, Inc., available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
For full details on how we handle your information, please review our Privacy Policy.
You have two ways to request deletion of your Toolbox account:
Your account will be deactivated immediately upon confirmation. Full deletion of associated data follows the timeline in Section 3 below.
If you cannot access the app, or prefer to request deletion in writing, email [email protected] with the subject line “Account Deletion Request.”
Please include the following so we can verify your identity and locate your account:
We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and complete deletion within 30 days, in line with the timelines described in our Privacy Policy.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize the following:
We are not able to delete every piece of data on request. Some information is retained because we are required by law to keep it, or because doing so is necessary to protect the security and integrity of the Services. The retention windows below match those in Section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
| Data type | Retention period | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription and transaction records | 7 years | Required to comply with U.S. tax and accounting laws |
| Account deletion confirmation record | 2 years | Proof that your deletion request was processed, in case of regulatory inquiry |
| Backup copies of deleted data | Up to 30 days after deletion | Backups cycle out on a 30-day rolling basis; your data is purged from backups within that window |
| Customer support communications | Up to 2 years from last interaction | Retained where necessary to defend against legal claims or resolve disputes |
| Aggregated and anonymized datasets | Indefinitely | Once your data has been aggregated and anonymized so it can no longer be linked to you, it is no longer personal information and is not deleted. We will not include your data in any new aggregated datasets created after your deletion request, if you previously opted out of aggregated insights. |
| Information shared with Thumbtack | Governed by Thumbtack’s policy | If you were referred to a Thumbtack professional, the data shared at the time of referral is governed by Thumbtack’s retention policy once shared. To request deletion of data held by Thumbtack, contact Thumbtack directly. |
| Information required by law enforcement or court order | As required | If we have received a valid legal request to preserve specific data, we may retain it for the period required by that request |
Once your deletion request is verified:
If we need additional time to complete your request, we will notify you before the initial 30-day period expires and explain the reason for the extension.
If you would prefer not to delete your account but want to limit how your data is used, the Toolbox app gives you three independent privacy controls under Settings > Privacy:
These choices apply going forward and do not require you to delete your account. See Section 8 of our Privacy Policy for more detail.
Deleting your Toolbox account does not automatically cancel an active subscription billed by Apple or Google. Apple and Google control subscription billing, not Toolbox.
To cancel an active subscription, please follow the instructions for your platform:
We recommend canceling your subscription before requesting account deletion, so you are not charged for a renewal you no longer want.
